When I first started my YouTube channel back in 2018 under the name Modern Metaphyic Man I had no idea how it would grow to impact my life and the lives of others. The past couple of years have been a roller coaster ride of experiences and emotions I could have only dreamt of. I am proud to look back and see how far we have come, and excited to look ahead and see how far we can go! Because this has become so much bigger than just me, and includes not only a global community, a local brick and mortar store, and an online presence for sharing and educating about metaphysical topics - I wanted a name to reflect all the things Modern Metaphysic Man has grown into. It was important to me to have a brand name that embodies my core values, my love old timeless things, along with a nod to the journey so far. For that reason I am happy to announce the formal change over from Modern Metaphysic Man to Modern Metaphysicae.
Metaphysicae is the Latin word for Metaphysics, a word that I felt evoked the timeless quality of all that this community and business has grown to become and love. I've had a long love of the word Metaphysicae first being exposed to it in the old school quad at the Bodleian in Oxford. It was encased above a door to the Schola Metaphysicae which was an entire school dedicated to the study of things and philosophies 'beyond the physical'. I kept the modern spelling of modern (from the Latin 'modernus') to ground us in the present and as homage to Modern Metaphsic Man. As the saying goes; everything old is new again.
Here is to many many more years to come as Modern Metaphysicea! A global community to create, inspire, and teach metaphyical things to help make the world a more magickal place to live!
